BATAAN – The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), in collaboration with the Localized Executive Order No. 70 Project Management Office (LEO70-PMO) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Central Office, the Project Development Management Section (PDMS) of the DILG Regional Office, and the DILG Bataan Locally-funded Projects Team, successfully conducted a comprehensive national inspection of various projects under the FY 2023 Local Government Support Fund – Support to the Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) from June 3-7, 2024.
The inspection covered key municipalities in Bataan, aiming to assist Local Government Units (LGUs) facing implementation challenges, ensure quality assurance, monitor progress, and assess the SubayBAYAN reporting status for SBDP projects. In a dedicated effort to enhance local infrastructure and community living standards, the national inspection reviewed 28 projects across Hermosa (4), Mariveles (5), Orion (7), Samal (10), and Orani (2). The focus was on water supply systems, road concreting, health stations, and renewable energy-based electrification—crucial elements for regional development.
The primary objectives of this inspection were to assist LGUs by addressing implementation challenges requiring regional and national intervention, ensure quality assurance by meeting required standards, monitor the physical and financial progress of projects, and assess the accuracy and timeliness of SubayBAYAN reporting, which tracks SBDP project progress.
Following the inspection exit conferences were conducted to review project documentation and engage with local officials to gather insights and provide guidance. Preliminary findings indicate significant progress in most areas, with a few projects identified for immediate technical and administrative intervention. Detailed reports and recommendations will be submitted to the respective LGUs to ensure continuous improvement and timely project completion.
The DILG, in collaboration with the NTF-ELCAC and other stakeholders, remains committed to supporting LGUs in effectively implementing LGSF-SBDP projects. Continuous monitoring and assistance will ensure these development initiatives achieve their intended outcomes, contributing to peace, development, and an improved quality of life in local communities.
