The small yet vibrant Sitio Nazareno, nestled in Barangay Culis within the Municipality of Hermosa, has recently celebrated the installation of 20 solar street lights, made possible through the FY 2023 Local Government Support Fund - Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP). With a national subsidy of Php 2,606,882.17, this initiative aims to enhance the quality of life in rural areas by providing access to innovative and environmentally friendly solutions.

Situated in the uplands, Sitio Nazareno has long grappled with inadequate street lighting, particularly during nighttime hours. This deficiency has presented challenges for both residents and visitors, hindering safe and efficient navigation throughout the village.

Victorina Aviola, a resident, emphasized the significant impact of the project's implementation. Residents now enjoy the benefits of well-lit streets, particularly during after sunset, enhancing safety and security within the barangay. Aviola highlighted that the project not only deters potential criminals but also fosters a heightened sense of security among community members.

Expressing sincere gratitude for the collaborative efforts that brought this project to fruition, Hermosa Mayor Antonio Joseph Inton underscored the cost-effectiveness and sustainability of solar power for the barangay. He articulated his vision of swiftly transitioning towards a bright and sustainable future through the adoption of solar street lights.

As a testament to the success of the LGSF-SBDP project, the solar street lights in Sitio Nazareno serve as a shining example of how innovative technologies can catalyze positive change in rural communities. With continued support and dedication from local leaders and barangays, rural areas can continue to thrive and prosper in the years ahead.
