Ten local government units of Bataan received the coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) during the awarding ceremony held at the Manila Hotel on December 15, 2022.

The Provincial Government of Bataan, City of Balanga and the municipalities of Bagac, Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Morong, Orani, Orion, Pilar and Samal were among the 352 awardees from all over the country during the event.

Said LGUs successfully passed the "All-In" assessment criteria, which are SGLG's 10 areas of governance namely: Financial Administration; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection and Sensitivity; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Sustainable Education; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Safety, Peace and Order; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; and Youth and Development.
Bataan Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III and the city/municipal mayors of the LGU awardees lead the local officials of the province in receiving the Seal.

The awarding was also graced by DILG Bataan Provincial Director Belina T. Herman, CESO V, Cluster Team Leader Yvette Cosio and the respective DILG field officers of the LGUs.

Aside from the Seal, awarded LGUs will obtain access to the SGLG Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) that will be utilized for their priority projects. Each winning province will receive P9.5 million; cities, P7 million; and municipalities, P5 million each.

For this year, the highest number of SGLG passers came from Region 3. The Province of Bataan also marked another milestone as it clinched the highest percentage of LGU passers in Central Luzon (76.92%).

The awarding ceremony was graced by Senator Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito and DILG Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos, Jr.
