Championing peace and development, the Province of Aurora received a prestigious award during the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) Gawad Parangal held on December 6, 2024, at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City. DILG Provincial Director Ener P. Cambronero, along with key officials from the Provincial Government of Aurora, headed by Governor Reynante A. Tolentino and represented by Executive Assistant Reynante K. Tolentino, participated in the event. Representatives from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) were also in attendance.
The Aurora Peace and Development Center and the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) were recognized for their outstanding contributions to promoting sustainable peace and addressing local insurgencies. This award highlights the province's steadfast commitment to the goals of the NTF-ELCAC which adopts a holistic approach in resolving the root causes of conflict through community-driven solutions.
The Peace and Development Center plays a pivotal role in reintegrating former rebels into society by providing them employment opportunities that foster financial independence and capacity to influence others who are still engaged in insurgency. Meanwhile, the PTF-ELCAC advances its peacebuilding initiatives through the adoption and implementation of the FY 2023-2025 Transformation Program of the Province of Aurora. This program includes measures for security, socio-economic development, confidence-building, and healing and reconciliation for former rebels, their families, and affected communities.
The NTF-ELCAC conferred the Gawad Parangal awards to individuals, government units, and organizations across the country marking the 6th anniversary of the NTF-ELCAC.
