In pursuit of sustainability and continuous enhancement of on-going collaborative efforts and innovations on drug demand reduction campaign, the DILG Aurora through its TAMBULI has conducted the Provincial Roll-Out on Strengthening Institutional Capacities of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (SICAP-BADAC) for the new sets of barangay leaders on December 18, 2023 via Zoom Application.

The SICAP-BADAC is a capacity development intervention of the department that continuously provide BADACs with significant knowledge, skills and attitude to ensure their functionality and performance vis- a vis their legal mandates. This is being implemented consistent with the intention of our government’s Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) program which is to raise awareness on the adverse effects of the use of illegal drugs and ultimately eradicate its proliferation through a “Whole of Nation and Government Approach”.
The activity successfully served as an avenue to put emphasis on the significant roles and responsibilities of barangay leaders in the campaign against illegal drugs. Their proximity to the grassroots was given due credence as it allows them to have greater understanding of what the communities really needs and how to effectively address it.
Joining the activity were DOH, PNP, PDEA, DepEd, and CSO partner who have shared their invaluable knowledge and efforts in discussing the following: Community Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) and Community Support, After Care and Reintegration (CSAR); roles of barangay in the conduct of Anti-Illegal Drugs Operations; Sustaining the Implementation of Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) and Implementation of Drug Free workplace; Strengthening Preventive Drug Education; and Role of the CSO in the Anti – Drug Advocacy Program, respectively.
Moreover, the activity was participated by BADAC Members, BADAC Auxiliary Teams (BATs), Barangay Duty Officer (BDO), and One House Cluster Leader (HCL) within the Province of Aurora.
