The DILG Zambales Team headed by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad was one with the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) in its “Million Volunteer Run (MVR) 3” which was conducted simultaneously nationwide last December 13, 2015. A total of twenty (20) DILG Officers/Employees consisting of 11 MLGOOs and nine (9) Provincial Officers/Staff joined the said run which aims to strengthen the network of volunteers down to the barangay level, and create awareness and raise funds for the agency’s humanitarian services.
The activity started at about 5:00 a.m. at the Zambales Sports Complex, Iba, Zambales with a simple program and was followed by a warm-up “zumba.” Participants in the event included provincial, municipal and barangay officials, Department of Education (DepEd) officials as well as students from elementary, high school and college levels. With the “starting area” at the Zambales Gymnasium, the participants ran through the national highway passing by the Provincial Capitol, proceeding to the Iba Municipal Hall and finally finishing at the People’s Park just across the Provincial Capitol.
PNRC Zambales Chapter Administrator Maria Elizabeth Ednave-Tovera, in her speech emphasized the importance of the event and even stated the challenges encountered during the preparation of the activity. She also gave credit to those institutions and agencies that helped in the success of the event. A Certificate of Recognition (“Sapphire Award”) was awarded to the DILG for its yearly participation in the activity.
