TARLAC – Heads and representatives of different offices of the Provincial Government of Tarlac (PGT) were oriented by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Tarlac Provincial Office on the beefed-up indicators of the 2016 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) at the Provincial Capitol, Tarlac City on February 22 to provide initial information on the program’s implementation.
DILG Provincial Director Belina Herman said the SGLG is an important tool that measures the performance of local government units (LGUs) coupled with the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) which is an incentive given to LGUs after they’ve complied with the requirements of the SGLG.
SGLG Provincial Focal Person Paul Michael Blanco and Cluster Tem Leader (CTL) Ener Cambronero provided a detailed discussion on the SGLG indicators such as: financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, business friendliness and competitiveness, and environmental management followed by CTL Ma Teresa Marquez’s presentation on the survey forms and tools under the LGU Scorecard.
The event aimed to orient the heads of offices of the provincial government, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators (MPDCs), national government agency heads, DILG field officers and non-governmental organization (NGO) partners.
Data gathering for the SGLG will run from February 22 to March 4 followed by the on-site validation of field officers from different provinces in the region. By LGOO II Bryan Rivera
