The Department of the Interior and Local Government in Region 03 will play host to the conduct of a Tapatan Roadshow on Disaster Preparedness and Climate Change Adaptation billed, “Magtapatan Tayo, Handa Na Ba Kayo?”, on June 06, 2012 at Oxford Hotel, Clarkfield, Pampanga.

In adherence to Republic Act 10121, otherwise known as the “Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010”, and Republic Act 9729 or the Climate Change Act, the activity aim to advocate and institutionalize the concept of disaster preparedness among local government units regionwide and instill in the minds of the public their respective tasks and roles before, during, and after a disaster. 

    As guest of honor and speaker, Hon. Secretary Jesse M. Robredo will be discussing DILG relevant programs on the subject of the tapatan roadshow and on good governance. 

Expected to attend and actively participate in the said endeavor are Central Luzon’s Governors, City and Municipal Mayors, Regional, Provincial and HUC Liga ng mga Barangay Presidents, Provincial, City, and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Officers, Provincial and HUC Committee Chairmen on Environment, Public Information Officers of Provinces and HUCs, NGOs, CSOs, POs, NGAs, members of the press and others concerned.
 
    Other highlights of the affair include presentation of the DRRM Framework Plan, Weather Forecast for 2012, Hazard Maps of Region 3 and sharing of LGU best practitioners on disaster preparedness.

A commitment signing of the participants will be administered to seek their full support on disaster preparedness efforts in the region to include their firm resolve on the implementation of the local disaster risk reduction and management and climate change adaptation plans.

Towards the end of the event, Secretary Robredo will lead the awarding of checks to Region 3 LGU Beneficiaries and recipients of the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF).

On the following day, DILG, through the Local Government Academy (LGA), in partnership with the Agencia Española de Cooperacion International para el Desarrollo (AECID) and Senator Loren Legarda,  will also hold the Collaboration Workshop for the 18 Major River Basins (Pampanga River Basin) in the same venue.  The activity will be attended by the Local Chief Executives of the provinces of Regions 1, 2 and 3 which are within the Pampanga River Basin together with their SK Provincial Federation President, ABC Provincial Federation President, Chairperson of the Sanggunian Committee on Environment, Mayors, DRRM Officers of covered municipalities, selected members of the Regional Development Council and representatives of the private sector (NGOs, CSOs, Business, Local Acacemic Institutions and Church Representatives).

The Tapatan on Disaster Preparedness is an offshoot of the success of the series of Tapatan activities conducted by the Department last year focusing on the Full Disclosure Policy requiring LGUs to disclose public pertinent financial information.
