The Provincewide Signing of Peace Covenant in Pampanga was held Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, City of San Fernando (P), marking the commitment of electoral post aspirants for the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, congressional and city/municipal mayoral race down to the councilors.

The activity showcased the desire and willingness of the candidates who attended the signing to safeguard the province’s peace and order condition throughout the election period.

The momentous event was facilitated jointly by the Commission on Elections, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philppines with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting.

Witnessed the signing were DILG Regional Director Florida M. Dijan, DILG Assistant Regional Director Aracelli A. San Jose, DILG Pampanga Director Myrvi Apostol-Fabia, PNP Regional Director PCSupt. Rudy G. Lacadin, PNP Pampanga Director PSSupt. Rodolfo “Jun” Recomono, Jr., COMELEC Regional Election Director Atty. Juanito O. Icaro, COMELEC Provincial Election Supervisor IV Atty. Lydia V. Florentino-Pangilinan, and PPCRV Chairperson Rev. Fr. Kenneth D. Alde.

Atty. Florentino-Pangilinan, on one hand, discussed COMELEC Resolution No. 10049 which lays the details concerning proper campaign posting areas, corresponding dates of postings, rally periods, and aspects of propaganda materials, among others.

PNP Regional Director Lacadin stressed to Punong Barangays who witnessed the event that they should exercise political neutrality and that they were the key players on the maintenance of peace and order in the Province in the grassroots level.

Highlight of the activity is the ceremonial signing of the covenant of all the candidates for the electoral posts, attested and witnessed by the regional directors and representatives.

Governor Pineda then thanked the candidates for their cooperation and participation to the event. She also expressed her gratitude to the Kapampangans, stressing that she will continue to serve as the beacon of public service in the Province. Lastly, she appealed to all the candidates saying “Sana po, walang masasaktan, walang mangyayaring di kanais-nais sa bawat isa, dahil lahat tayo ay mga Kapampangan at mahal ko ang lahat ng Kapampangan,” further urging the candidates to be rational and exercise honest, fair and peaceful elections in the Province.
