Around 120 Lupon members from 21 LGUs in the province participated in a two-day seminar designed to sharpen their mediation and conciliation skills in the implementation of Katarungang Pambarangay Law.
Dubbed “Lupon, Level Up! Learning and Utilizing Conflict Management Strategies for Peaceful Communities,” the activity offered advanced courses in conflict management in the context barangay justice system including scope of authority of Lupons; rights and protections of involved parties; enforcement and implementation of decisions under KP Law, and skills needed in the observance of amicable settlement.
As part of DILG Pampanga’s SAUP Barangay, Lupon, Level Up! is a sequel to the earlier initiative of the provincial office in capacitating Lupons of Pampanga on the fundamentals of KP Law. This time, however, the discussion zeroed in on more challenging topics and analysis of case studies and successful resolution of disputes which can help Lupons in the effective implementation of KP Law in their respective jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, former Board Member Rosve Henson also graced the activity on behalf of Governor Dennis Pineda.
Just imagine if all barangays were equipped with this knowledge, we will be having a very peaceful and harmonious province,” said Henson.
Atty. Aloi Renz Santos of the Commission on Human Rights-Region 3, Atty. Maria Helen D. Surla of DOJ Region 3 and LGOO III Ladislao Puno III served as resource speakers. Also present was DILG Region 3 CDD Chief Lee Allen Pineda who represented Regional Director Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda.
