Secretary of Interior and Local Government Manuel “Mar” A. Roxas II dubbed the newly built P 32-million Candaba Municipal Infirmary as a “center of hope” in his visit to Candaba, Pampanga, Thursday, May 14, 2015.
“This (Candaba Municipal Infirmary) is a center of hope for the promise of a better life, for a better future of Candaba. What’s most important is that you (Candabeño) made this happen,” Sec. Mar expressed in his speech during the inauguration ceremony.
The ribbon cutting for the newly built classy state-of-the-art hospital was graced by the Secretary himself, together with the host Mayor of Candaba Hon. Rene E. Maglanque, and Regional Director of the Department of Health Dr. Leonita P. Gorgolon, spearheaded by Reverend Father Manny Contreras with a blessing.
One (1) brand new ambulance, through the Sec. Mar’s coordination with Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) General Manager Ferdinand Roxas, has been donated to the hospital.
Notable guests also honored the event, to wit: Congressman Juan Pablo “Rimpy” Bondoc; Congressman Oscar “Oca” Rodriguez; Congressman Agapito Guanlao; Congressman Yeng Guiao; Congressman Jonjon Mendoza; Mayor Emmanuel Bonifacio “Bon” M. Alejandrino of Arayat; Mayor Jose Maria “Jomar” O. Hizon of Bacolor; Mayor Dante D. Torres of Guagua; Mayor Danilo S. Guintu of Masantol; Mayor Edgar G. Flores of Minalin; Mayor Venancio “Asyong” S. Macapagal; Mayor Leonora “Nora” C. Wong of San Simon; City Mayor Edwin D. Santiago of San Fernando; Mayor Rommel M. Concepcion of Sta. Ana; Mayor Joselito “Lito” F. Naguit of Sto. Tomas; and, some Board Members, Sangguniang Bayan Members, 33 Punong Baranggays, and a crowd of barangay officials and functionaries.
The Level 1 community emergency hospital will primarily handle emergency cases, prevalent diseases, and healthcare needs of the local residents of Candaba and nearby towns and municipalities. Sec. Roxas said himself that he was amazed with the hospital’s modern equipment, that of comparable to private hospitals in the metropolitan area.
An awarding of Bottom-Up Budgeting checks followed, turned over to mayors of municipalities of Bacolor – P1.9M, Masantol – P1.01M, Minalin – P4.63M, San Luis – P2.96M, Sta. Ana – P1M, Sto. Tomas – P0.96M, Guagua – P225K, and city of San Fernando, P2.25M.
The checks awarded shall be utilized for projects proposed under BuB program.
