Baler, Aurora, Philippines – August 30, 2024 –The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Aurora trained more than six hundred (600) Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) practitioners across the country through the conduct of a comprehensive Training on Settlement Techniques via Zoom Cloud Meetings.
The training is anchored on DILG Aurora's pioneered innovation titled "KP DREAMS" which aims to optimize and harness the full potential of the KP in the speedy and effective resolution and settlement of disputes. In collaboration with the Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution (OADR), DILG Central Luzon, and the DILG Camarines Norte, the activity successfully apprises the participants of effective strategies to expedite the mediation, conciliation, or arbitration process while upholding the principles and procedural requirements of the Katarungang Pambarangay.
Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda, CESO III, Regional Director of DILG Central Luzon, highlights the significance of the activity stating that: "The activity is intended to enhance the knowledge and skills of Barangays in implementing the Katarungang Pambarangay as a form of indigenous conflict resolution at the grassroots level. [...] I am confident that the knowledge and strategies you will gain from this training will greatly improve our approach in the Katarungang Pambarangay which will help build peaceful communities."
The featured speaker, Atty. Ali Lorraine V. Manrique, Attorney V/ Chief of the Legal Division of the OADR, shared her expertise and insights on various strategies that can be applied in KP proceedings. Moreover, she enlightens the participants on different issues arising in the actual practice of the KP.
The activity was attended by M/LGOOs, Lupon members, and other KP practitioners from different regions and provinces across the country.
