The Provincial Government of Bulacan, headed by Governor Daniel R. Fernando led the conduct of the 2023 Gawad KALASAG (KAlamidad at Sakuna LAbanan, SAriling Galing ang Kaligtasan) Regional Assessment for the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC)/Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) Category on July 26, 2023.

 In the previous year, the Provincial Government bagged the coveted 2022 National Gawad KALASAG Seal for Disaster Response. The Province of Bulacan was among the 29 provinces in the country that received the "Beyond Compliant" rating.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) awards the Gawad KALASAG Seal to Local Government Units (LGUs) that adhere to the standards, for the establishment and functionality of the LDRRMCs and LDRRMOs as mandated under Republic Act No. 10121, also known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.
