DILG R3, in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Luzon Cluster 2, conducted an Orientation and Training on the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) Digital Certificate on September 13, 2022 via Zoom cloud platform. It was attended by the regional and field officers and employees composed of Highly Urbanized City (HUC) Director, designated provincial/HUC IT and records officers, Supervising Administrative Officer (SAO), Section Chiefs, Unit Heads and Office of the Regional Director (ORD) staff.
The main objective of the activity was to provide basic understanding on the PNPKI Digital Signature of DICT including its purpose, use and benefits. It also capacitated the participants to obtain respective digital certificate or signature from DICT.
During his opening message, RD Karl Caesar Rimando emphasized that the PNPKI digital signature should be used responsibly, safely and with integrity to protect our own data privacy and achieve data security.
After the presentation of the main objectives of the activity by IT Officer I Melerie Pineda, Planning Officers II Rizza M. Alcorano and Mayrielle Anne A. Bermas of DICT Central Luzon Cluster 2 discussed the PNPKI use, benefits and legal bases which supports its implementation in government transactions. They also led a hands-on demonstration in the process of enrollment, installation and setting up of the respective PNPKI digital certificates of the participants in the official device used. Finally, after the successful set-up, some participants simulated their acquired digital signature in digitally signing documents.
At the end of the activity, Certificates of Appreciation were presented to DICT resource speakers. Further, Asst. Regional Director Jay E. Timbreza, in his closing message, urged everyone to support DICT's advocacy in the adoption and implementation of the PNPKI digital certificate in the Department.
