The Department of the Interior and Local Government – Bulacan Provincial Office, headed by Provincial Director Darwin D. David has conducted a clean-up activity on May 26, 2022, at Brgy. Malis, Guiguinto, Bulacan.
In accordance with the writ of continuing mandamus of the Supreme Court, the DILG and LGUs are mandated to clean up, restore, and preserve the Manila Bay.
An estimated 300 kilos of solid waste, including styrofoam, food wrappers, packaging materials, plastic bottles, tires, ropes, and slippers, were collected from a 250-meter stretch of esteros and sidewalk in Barangay Malis, Guiguinto, Bulacan. The success of this clean-up drive is through the intensified effort of all 72 volunteers from the Barangay, LGU, and DILG Bulacan.
PD Darwin expressed his gratitude to the dedicated volunteers and reminded everyone of how vital teamwork is during clean-up drives and similar activities. "Through such activities, we may serve as a model to people on how we can preserve and protect our environment", he said.
In line with this, Punong Barangay Cezar Mendoza thanked his constituents for their continuous support. MENRO Engr. Sudan also reiterated the various programs of the LGU regarding solid waste management and their importance.
The clean-up drive is a regular activity under the Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program (MBCRPP) which aims to continuously promote awareness on the relevance of maintaining a cleaner and safer environment.
