DILG Angeles City in coordination with the Angeles City Barangay Secretaries Association (ACBASA) and Angeles City Barangay Treasurers League (ACBTL), conducted a Training Workshop on Gender and Development Planning Prioritizing Gender Equality and Social Inclusion on May 25-26, 2022 at Tagaytay Haven, Cavite. This was held to discuss newly expanded concepts in addressing unequal access to opportunities.

"We need to be aware na hindi lang ang kababaihan ang usually nakaka-experience ng disadvantages sa ating society at sa pagkuha ng mga oportunidad," said DILG City Director Martin Porres B. Moral during his message. "Ang mga PWD, ethnic minorities at iba pang vulnerable sectors ay hindi rin dapat naiiwanan sa pag-unlad."

The activity aimed to capacitate the barangay officials in the systematic planning and implementation of programs and inclusive policies that offer access to livelihood assets and services for all, including the women, the poor and excluded.

Gender Equality and Social Inclusion

GESI is an advocacy campaign to deliver specific actions and activities that tackle the persistent challenges and barriers that are holding not just women, but also people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and other vulnerable sectors in achieving their full potential through enhancing opportunities, access to resources, voice and respect for rights.
The Local Government Units are expected to implement existing policies and programs against the discrimination of persons based on age, disability, national or ethnic origin, language, religious affiliation or belief, political affiliation or belief, health status, physical features, sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression.
