MARCH 18 2021 – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 3 conducted the Regional Dialogue on the Implementation of the Supreme Court Ruling on the Mandanas-Garcia Petition cum Bida Ang May Disiplina: Solusyon sa COVID-19 Launching last March 18, 2021 via Zoom Cloud Meetings application.
The said ruling is expected to cause devolution of certain functions of the Executive Branch to local governments. Thus, this activity served as a preparation of the Department to fulfill its role, functions, and services as it gears towards its implementation starting 2022.
Likewise, the dialogue also provided an avenue to officially launch the national advocacy campaign of DILG in partnership with the Department of Health – the Bida Ang May Disiplina: Solusyon sa COVID-19 Program. Said campaign aims to rebuild the culture of discipline among Filipinos as a way to win the battle against this global pandemic.
The discussion of the ruling was led by Dir. John Aries S. Macaspac of DBM, Dir. Anna Liza F. Bonagua of DILG-BLGD, and Dir. Divina Hope V. Vallejo of NEDA Region 3 while the advocacy campaign was presented by LGOO VII Ener P. Cambronero of DILG Region 3, Ms. Theresa Marie V. Bondoc of DOH Region 3, and Bida Ang May Disiplina Regional Ambassador Hon. Shierwin H. Taay.
In her opening message, Dir. Julie J. Daquioag highlighted the importance of discipline and coordination in this time of pandemic. "Through this dialogue, I hope we can reach out as many as we can pertaining to proper information education campaign", she added.
Overall, the activity has reached almost 800 Zoom participants and 12,000 Facebook Livestream views. Indeed, although our situation may be difficult for the time being, DILG will continue living up to its mandate of providing matino, mahusay, at maaasahang public service to all local governments.
