DILG Nueva Ecija Family once again showcased its absolute support to environmental programs and green initiatives through the recently held KBP Oplan BroadcasTreeing 2012, a national tree-planting activity simultaneously held by province, in a corroborative effort with the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
The tree-planting was participated by 1,126 people from the government and non-government organizations, private sectors including schools and KBP Nueva Ecija Chapter members 101.5 Big Sound-FM, 1188 DZXO-AM, DWJJ and DWNE was undertaken on October 13, 2012 in Sitio Bacao, Barangay Doña Josefa, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija and came up with 2,500 seedlings planted in a 20-heactare National Greening Program (NGP) site in the city.
On its first year of observance in 2011, Nueva Ecija Chapter came out No. 1 for the number of trees planted and number of participants, which recorded 11,000 seedlings planted.
DILG Provincial Director/concurrent Assistant Regional Director (R3) Abraham A. Pascua headed the DILG team, who, in his message during the short ceremonial program prior the tree-planting activity, said that Oplan BroadcasTreeing was the legacy of the late Secretary Jessie Robredo who actually helped conceptualize the project with the KBP in line with President Benigno S. Aquino III’s NGP. Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO) Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Walter Castillejos also joined the activity together with Philippine Army’s 7th Infrantry Division, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) represented by the office head Samuel Danganan and the LGU of Palayan City.
Other participants were the Rotary Club of Cabanatuan (Mother Club), Rotary Club of Cabanatuan East, Rotary Club of Peñaranda, Rotary Club of Gapan, College of the Immaculate Concepcion High School Class ’80, Life Box Cabanatuan, Knights of Columbus Council 6000, Columbian Squires Padre Crisostomo Circle 2047, Community College of the Philippines Foundation, AIE Cabanatuan, AIE Gapan, Good Samaritan Colleges, First Asian International Systems College, Skolar Ni Kuya, the Army’s 702nd Infantry Brigade, Sangguniang Kabataan of San Isidro; Midway Maritime Foundation, Global Kids Montessori, Tue North Builders and TLC Care Centers.
KBP Nueva Ecija Chapter Chairperson Ms. Joy Galvez-Dominado expressed her appreciation for the all-out support from the participating agencies, saying that KBP NE is now challenged in terms of sustainability of the growth progress of the seedlings thus the Kapisanan committed to nurture them.
The tree-planting was completed at around 11:00 AM.

Kapihan sa Plaza Leticia went live on air on August 10, 2012 sponsored by Ms. Leticia Sy Uy of NE Group of Companies, as a special edition of Magtulungan Tayo, which featured the Assessment on the Effects of Southwest Monsoon Rains (Habagat) and typhoon “Gener”, guesting the National Food Authority (NFA), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), various departments of the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)). Freshest and most accurate monitoring reports were extracted from the representatives of each guest agency through dynamic discussions revved up by the program hosts Ms. Sonia Capio and Mr. Jun Garcia.
DILG Nueva Ecija Provincial Director Dr. Abraham A. Pascua, in his concurrent capacity as the Assistant Regional Director and being the co-chairman of Nueva Ecija Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), gave his comprehensive assessment of the latest situation in the province and even in the neighboring provinces, commending all Novo Ecijanos for showing their remarkable spirits in the midst of trials and confusion brought by disaster risks, who, with “Magtulungan Tayo”, he called “MGA BAYANING ISINILANG NG KALAMIDAD”.
The scope of interventions of the concerned agencies was among those elaborately tackled, from suspension of school classes and government work to validation of damages that disasters bring forth, informing the listeners of how National Government Agencies and Local Government Units as major stakeholders function in symmetry at times of disasters.
Kapihan sa Plaza Leticia wrapped up with words of hope, for better disaster resiliency not only for Nueva Ecija but for the rest of the world.
