Tarlac City, Tarlac- On February 10, 2019 at 6:30 in the morning, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Tarlac headed by Provincial Director Belina Herman, participated in the Unity Walk, Interfaith Prayer Rally, and Signing of Peace Covenant for the 2019 Midterm Election held at Tarlac City, Tarlac.

The unity walk which was joined in by around 600 people including local candidates from different political parties, religious and civic groups, private and government agencies and media started at San Sebastian Cathedral School and ended at the Tarlac City Plazuela.

The succeeding program began with the interfaith prayer from various religions followed by the message of Acting Provincial Election Supervisor, Gilbert Almario. According to him, the presence of the candidates and other stakeholders shows their sincere commitment in achieving an honest, peaceful and orderly elections. He also encouraged the candidates to conduct their campaign activities in accordance with the provisions of the laws of the country.

Provincial candidates and witnesses affixed their signatures on the Peace Covenant followed by the releasing of white doves as a symbol of a peace, clean, and orderly election.

The Mid-year National and Local Elections will be held on May 13, 2019.
