TARLAC CITY, TARLAC – In acknowledgement of the universal call of action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity, the Philippine Government through the Local Government Units (LGUs) were engaged to advocate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) at the local level.

This entails empowering LGUs to serve as dynamic partners of the national government in responding to the challenges of the SDGs and likewise enjoining the participation of families living in urban poor communities.

The City Government of Tarlac through its City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Local Government Academy (LGA) to cause the implementation of SDG-FACES in Tarlac City.

From among 76 barangays, San Vicente was selected as a pilot area from which, 20 boys and 20 girls from different families will benefit from this project.

The Sustainable Development Goals Family-Based Actions for Children and their Environs in the Slums (SDG-FACES) Project Launching/Orientation was held at the 2nd Floor, Bulwagan, Tarlac City Hall on February 27, 2018.

No less Tarlac City Mayor Maria Cristina Angeles took part in this important undertaking.

In her message, she expressed her gratitude to the DILG and LGA for their unwavering support to make this endeavor possible.

She also thanked the selected beneficiaries of the project for their cooperation and willingness to accept the City Government's assistance to identify their problems and create interventions like livelihood trainings/programs that would help them improve their way of life.
