The Department of the Interior and Local Government- Region III in partnership with the Philippine Commission on Women conducted a Roll-Out Seminar-Workshop on the Localization of the Magna Carta of Women on May 7-9, 14-16 and 21-23, 2014 at Oxford Hotel, Clark, Pampanga.

DILG Regional Director Florida M. Dijan welcomed the participants and discussed the DILG Framework and the department’s role in mainstreaming gender and development. “The Department’s goal is to make all LGUs sustainable development-oriented which can be achieved if all LGUs practice self-reliance”, she said.

Localization of the Magna Carta of Women is under the Program Outcome Socially-Protective and Safe LGUs.  “I believe that Region 3 is one of the first to conduct this kind of activity. In the past three years, LGUs are receiving audit observations on the utilization of LGU GAD Funds. Through this activity, our Resource Persons will give you the most palatable and most acceptable inputs and information which would be very useful to be able to craft the LGU GAD Plan and Budget. The COA observations prompted the department to come up with this kind of activity. Let’s collaborate and put our minds and hearts in this activity”, RD Dijan added.

The roll-out seminar-workshop was attended by 380 participants representing 114 Local Government Units in Region III which were capacitated in coming up with a gender-responsive plan and budget for 2015.
