In a collective effort towards the rehabilitation of the Manila Bay, six local government units (LGUs) in Tarlac underwent table and onsite assessment in the 2023 LGU Compliance Audit under the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program (MBCRPP) on March 14-15, 2024.
Led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Central Luzon, the Regional Inter-Agency Committee (RIAC), including representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Office 3, and National Housing Authority (NHA), evaluated the LGUs across critical areas such as Solid Waste Management, Liquid Waste Management, and Management of Informal Settler Families.
The assessment involved onsite visits to the LGUs in their respective schedules:
March 14, 2024:
City of Tarlac
Municipality of Bamban
Municipality of Capas
Municipality of Concepcion
March 15, 2024:
Municipality of La Paz
Municipality of Victoria
The RIAC and the LGUs were accompanied by their respective DILG City/Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (C/MLGOOs) and the DILG Tarlac Provincial Office Focal Persons. Further, this initiative underscores the commitment to ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and fostering sustainable practices crucial for the restoration and preservation of Manila Bay's ecosystem.
