The female legislators in the province met earlier today at the Sangguniang Session Hall to elect their officers to the Lady Local Legislators League of the Philippines, Inc. (FOUR-L) – Pampanga Chapter. As convenor of the provincial chapter, Vice Governor Lilia G. Pineda formally opened the elections participated by more than 30 members of the city, municipal and provincial sanggunian.
Vice Governor Pineda expressed her gratitude for having such an activity dedicated to fostering unity among its members and promoting women empowerment in the political sphere.
“Napakahalaga ng papel natin bilang mga kababaihan na nasa pulitika. Gamitin natin ito upang makagawa tayo ng mga batas o ordinansa na nagsusulong sa kapakanan ng mga kababaihan. Hikayatin din natin ang suporta ng mga kasama natin sa sanggunian na suportahan ang mga ganitong hadhikain,” said Vice Governor Pineda.
The activity was facilitated by Program Manager Mark Kevin Salonga while the elections proper was facilitated and supervised by the Committee on Elections (COMELEC) chaired by Ms. Maria Theresa P. Gueverra, Secretary to the Sanggunian, with DILG Provincial Director Myra Moral-Soriano, Hon. Michelle R. Corpuz of Guagua, HonAyzel Mari Grace Macalino of CSFP and Lucia Liezle Guintu of Masantol sitting as members.

In her address as the newly elected president, BM Fritizie Dizon thanked her colleagues for their support to the league. She noted the rise in women’s participation in the political arena in recent years, which she said deserves applause and support. She also encouraged each one to celebrate the invaluable contributions of women and recognize their immense potential towards a more inclusive society.
Following the elections of its officers, the FOUR-L Pampanga Chapter hopes to further strengthen the role of the league in the province in promoting responsive and effective legislation that advocates the rights and welfare of women, children and the family.
