PEACE: Aurora’s Project of LOVE

The People’s Empowerment and Advanced Center for Employment or PEACE, is the brainchild of Governor Bellaflor J. Angara-Castillo, being a staunch advocate of education. She proposed the establishment of this center to be a venue for equitable education and empowerment.

PEACE caters primarily to disadvantaged & marginalized groups, Out of School Youths (OSY), Persons with Disability (PWD), women and indigent. The Center’s mission is to promote the social and economic well being of these disadvantaged sectors.

It is equipped to offer various life skills and capacity development courses such as massage therapy, commercial cooking, housekeeping, bartending, cosmetology, and computer operation free of charge.

The program’s concept is to train OSY, PWD, women and indigents to be productive and have proper work values.  After the training, the center has produced quality skilled workers for prospective employers.

Graduates are assessed for National Certificate II (NC II) by TESDA and are referred to the Provincial Employment Service Office for job placement. Other Graduates are granted livelihood assistance through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development office (PSWDO), some are hired as support staff of PEACE.

The Center is in operation since 2008, and has graduates that have landed jobs overseas and attested that they have extensively gained self-esteem and confidence which drove them to work hard and prove to others that despite of their disability and disadvantages they can  excel in their tasks.
