   Regional Director Florida M. Dijan headed the awarding of LGUs which were outstandingly compliant with the key legal provisions of R.A. 9003 otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 manifested thru the Environmental Compliance Audit (ECA).

   The event was attended by Mayor Edwin Santiago and Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, Mayor Candido R. Guiam III of Victoria, Tarlac, Mayor Jocell Aimee Vistan-Casaje of Plaridel, Bulacan, and Mayor Michael Manuel of La Paz, Tarlac who personally received the awards.

   The awarding was held on December 18, 2014 at the Heroes’ Hall, City of San Fernando, Pampanga as a highlight of the commemoration of the Manila Bay day. Accordingly, the DILG chose among the 94 LGUs in the region’s Manila Bay area and came up with two sets of winners for the Municipal and City categories.

   Under the Municipal Category, Victoria, Tarlac was proclaimed as the most outstanding LGU in the region followed by Plaridel, Bulacan and La Paz, Tarlac with the second and third places respectively. For the City Category, on the other hand, City of San Fernando, Pampanga bagged the first place followed by Balanga City, Bataan on second place, and Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija on the third place.

   All the awardees received Plaques of Recognition while the first place winners in each category were awarded 200,000 pesos each. Further, in representing the region, City of San Fernando, Pampanga and Victoria, Tarlac have the chances to win up to 1,000,000 pesos should they bag the ECA national awards.
