The Municipality of Castillejos recently conducted a Launching Ceremony for the Repair/Rehabilitation of various school buildings amounting to P2.8 Million last May 2, 2012 at Central Elementary School, Castillejos, Zambales.  This is in line with the Department’s commitment of forging support with local government units to promote good governance under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF). The amount of P800,000.00 was given as a cash incentive to the said municipality being a recipient of the Seal of Good Housekeeping Award,  in addition to the P2M from the 20% Development Fund.

The ceremony was graced by the municipal local officials headed by Mayor Jose Angelo M. Dominguez along with SB Members, MPDC  Enrique C. Clarin, School Principals, PTA Members and Punong Barangays. LGOO VI Rolando D. Ocampo, South Cluster Team Leader / concurrent MLGOO together with MLGOOs Rosalinda T. Sarmiento and Deborah A. Mangayan from neighboring Municipalities of Subic and San Marcelino respectively were also present to witness the occasion.

In his message, Mayor Dominguez emphasized his battle cry “Kayang Kaya Basta’tSamaSama” in which everyone should have a part in the development efforts of the local government unit. Also, LGOO VI Ocampo congratulated the officials of Castillejos for being the first to conduct a launching ceremony in the Province of Zambales.

The activity was concluded by Hon. Voltaire Avera, SB Chairman on Education and said that he will continue to support the program of Mayor Dominguez especially in the education sector.

The provincial government of Zambales through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) has conducted a simultaneous earthquake drill on March 1, 2012. 

An estimated 180 personnel from the different offices situated at the Provincial Capitol Building participated in the drill which started at exactly 9:06 A.M.

DILG Zambales OIC Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad and staff, Provincial Fire MarshallSupt. Jorge B. Fariñas together with his subordinates, Philippine Red Cross Chapter Administrator Maria Elizabeth J. Ednave and the Philippine Army headed by LTC. Michael G. Samson, C.O. 24 IB-Zambales served as observers and evaluators.  Each of them gave an impressive reaction and suggestions on the conduct of the drill.

The same exercise, which aims to ensure everyone’s readiness in case an emergency or disaster strikes was conducted in every municipality particularly in the different schools in the province.
