City of Angeles - The Department of the Interior and Local Government thru the Office of Project Development Services (OPDS) conducted 2-day Follow-Thru Activity on Local Road Mapping on September 19-20, 2018 at Maharajah Hotel, Angeles City, Pampanga.

DILG Bulacan facilitated the said activity with the participation of Provincial Government of Bulacan and two (2) representatives in each municipalities of the province of Bulacan.

PD Darwin D. David, Provincial Director of DILG Bulacan, graced the activity by giving an inspirational opening remark where he emphasized the value of time and valuing others’ time. He also reminded the participants to take the activity seriously even though others were the same participants from the last year’s same activity.

Resource speakers from CMGP-OPDS, Mr. Jeffrey Ramos and Mr. Jeremy Hernandez facilitated the plenary discussions and lectures, simultaneously. Topics include, the Introduction to QGIS, Strategic Road Link Database Structural Design, and Guidelines in Creating Road Network Map. There were also workshops about Installation of GIS Software, Creating Features using QGIS, Working with feature attribute table, and Editing and updating tables, which was assisted by Mr. Emerson B. Casaje, CPII of Provincial Government of Bulacan.

On the second day of the activity, the participants were asked to share their learnings and/or other concerns from the day 1 activity, especially with their outputs. Moreover, whilst discussing, others resumed with polishing their outputs. Upon completing or updating their data, chosen municipalities presented their output and the good ones served as the model for the other participants who are still revising their outputs.

This activity aims to train the participants from various LGUs to be effective and accurate in updating their local road network, thus improving their implementation and monitoring of their LGUs future infrastructure projects.
