The Sangguniang Kabataan Provincial Management Team (SK PMT), headed by Atty. Ofelio A. Tactac, Jr., Provincial Director of the Department of Interior and Local Government – Aurora, convened on March 14, 2017 at the Amihan Aplaya Lodge, Brgy. Sabang, Baler in preparation for the upcoming SK Mandatory Training after the SK election on May 14, 2018.

Among those in attendance were Hon. Consuelo M. Castillo, Liga ng mga Barangay President, Aurora Chapter, Dr. Ferdinand Romano, Administrative Officer of the Wesleyan University-Philippines, Mr. Ceferino G. Hulipas, Jr. from the Provincial Employment, Sports, Culture and Arts for Youth Development Office(PESCAYDO), DILG-Aurora Provincial Office Staff, and the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOOs) of the eight municipalities in the province.

 

 

Atty. Ofelio A. Tactac, Jr. emphasized the importance of tapping the expertise of the Local Resource Institute (LRI), who will partner with the DILG in providing training and orientation services to the future elected SK officials in the province. He said that the sharing of knowledge and expertise between and among the members of the LRI and the DILG-Aurora is indispensable for honing the skills and building the character of the future leaders of the youth.

 

LGOO VI Amado V. Angara, Program Manager, provided the members with the overview on Republic Act 10742, otherwise known as the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015, focusing on Chapter 5, Section 27 of the said law. He also presented the SK Mandatory Training Standards as the basis for strategic planning of the PMT for the conduct of the said training.

 

The SK PMT decided on the clustering of classes per municipality and has already identified possible venues and the composition of the pool of trainers. The LRI is set to do an ocular visit to ensure that the venues are conducive for learning. Further meetings will be conducted to finalize the conduct of the SK training.
