The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region III held an orientation course program for the newly – elected Liga ng mga Barangay presidents on January 21-23, 2014 at Subic International Hotel, SBMA, Zambales.  

    The activity, with the theme “Mga Barangay sa Tuwid na Daan, Ating Katuwang” intends to equip the participants with the necessary knowledge and attitude to effectively and efficiently manage their respective localities during their term of office.  

  In her opening remarks, RD Florida M. Dijan warmly welcomed the participants and encouraged them to continuously work together with the DILG as their partner towards best performance in order to yield best governance.  

  RD Dijan discussed the Local Government Framework that reflects a structured guide in carrying out mandated tasks to capacitate LGUs and ensure the performance of their duties and responsibilities thereby achieving inclusive growth and poverty reduction.  Said framework features organizational and sub-sectoral outcomes that shall develop sustainable development-oriented local governments.

  Towards the end of the activity, all participants expressed their support by signing the Pledge of Commitment to strive for excellence in local governance and accomplish local development programs in order to improve the lives of their constituents.
