Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija | October 17, 2025 – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Nueva Ecija, under the leadership of Provincial Director Atty. Ofelio A. Tactac, Jr., CESO V, spearheaded the conduct of Provincial Table Validation for the 2025 Building Excellence in Service and Transparency (BEST) for Barangay at the DILG Nueva Ecija Provincial Office, Old Capitol Compound, Cabanatuan City.
The activity convened the BEST Provincial Performance Assessment Team (PPAT) to meticulously review and validate the performance of the 849 barangays in the province. This collaborative effort ensured that the BEST for Barangay indicators and measures were assessed according to the highest standards of excellence, innovation, and good governance.
Present during the validation were Hon. Aristotle P. Manabat (Secretary, Liga ng mga Barangay – Provincial Chapter); Mr. Francis J. Santiago and Ms. Marinel Padilla (Representatives, Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan); Ms. Danica Shine Q. Sagnip and Mr. Aldrianne Renz P. Agustin (Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija); and Mr. Alvin R. Jacob (Outreach Philippines, Inc.).
The Provincial Table Validation formed part of the selection process for outstanding barangays that promote innovation, transparency, and effective governance. After thorough deliberation, 115 barangays out of 849 barangays in the province were declared as Potential Passers.
The BEST for Barangay is a performance assessment and recognition system that seeks to identify barangays with exemplary performance across core governance areas. It likewise aims to inspire continuous improvement in the delivery of efficient, equitable, and quality public services – with integrity and good governance as the cornerstone of meaningful local autonomy and development.
