The Municipality of San Marcelino, Zambales inaugurated the Level III Water Supply System Project funded under the 2014 Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat (SALINTUBIG) Program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on April 19, 2016.
The first part of the activity was held at the pumping station Barangay Linusungan, while the second part was held at the Covered Court of Barangay Nagbunga.
The activity started with the unveiling of the project marker followed by the ribbon cutting and ceremonial switch and splash. This marks the official start of its operation after the completion last February 5, 2016. To ensure the sustainability and proper maintenance of the project, the LGU turned over the project to San Marcelino Water District through a Memorandum of Agreement signed prior to the start of its implementation. 750-800 Households from the Barangays of Linusungan and Nagbunga who has been experiencing inadequate supply of potable water are expected to benefit from this project.
SALINTUBIG is a program of the current administration implemented by the DILG that aims to increase the access of the communities to safe and potable water.
Gracing the event were DILG Regional Director Florida M. Dijan, DILG Zambales Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CDD Chief Jeffrey S. Manalastas, MLGOO Engr. Lee Allen B. Pineda and SALINTUBIG Regional Focal Person Engr. Billy Abalus. Also in attendance were the officials of San Marcelino Water District headed by their General Manager Ms. Lyn Villena. Municipal Mayor Jose F. Rodriguez together with MPDC Mr. Gilbert N. Villena, Linusungan Punong Barangay Patrocenio A. Ragadio, Nagbunga Punong Barangay Henry R. Dacayo and their Sangguniang Barangay Members hosted the program.
