The DILG Zambales headed by PD Armi V. Bactad was among the three (3) DILG Provincial Offices in Region 3 that spearheaded the launching of the Ugnayan ng Barangay At Simbahan (UBAS) which was actively participated by leaders/representatives from various interfaith communities and provincial/municipal/barangay officials from Zambales, Pampanga and Bataan last May 20, 2015 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, City of San Fernando, Pampanga with a theme: “Simbahan at Barangay...Nakikiisa sa Pamahalaan para sa Tuwid na Daan”.
To forge a stronger partnership, the UBAS unity symbol was unveiled and a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed. Thru this, the government, the Church and the barangays have pledged their commitment in ensuring good governance, as well as encouraging and transforming citizens into good governance advocates.
Another highlight of the activity was the turn-over by no less than DILG RD Florida M. Dijan of the detailed list of Grassroots Participatory Process (GPP) projects implemented to the representatives from the Liga ng mga Barangay and from the inter-faith communities.
In attendance during the launching were representatives/members of Interfaith communities such as: Assembles of God, Jesus Is Lord, United Methodist Church, Iglesia ni Kristo, Church of God Int’l., Grace United Baptist Church, Grace Better Future Church Inc., Samahan ng Bible Baptist Temple, Archdiocese of Zambales, Bataan and San Fernando, Bishop Pablo Virgilio David D.D., and Rev. Fr. Antonio Labiao Jr., Vicar Gen., Parish Priest of Our Lady of Mercy, Novaliches. Also present were governor, mayors, board members, barangay officials, presidents of the league of barangays, BFP, PNP, MLGOOs, UBAS Executive Director Atty. Marines Ledesma, CPA, DILG Provincial Director of Pampanga, Myrvi A. Fabia, DILG Provincial Director of Bataan, Myra B. Moral, Director of National Barangay Operations Office, Leocadio T. Tovella and media organizations.
From the Province of Zambales, Col. Romelino R. Gojo, President, Regional Liga ng mga Barangay, Municipal Mayor of Sta. Cruz, Hon. Consolacion M. Marty, majority of the MLGOOs as well as over 200 barangay officials were seen actively participating during the said activity.
The event became even more momentous with the awarding of BUB checks for 2015 projects to recipient municipalities. In Zambales, San Felipe, Iba and Palauig were awarded checks amounting to P1,304,000. 00, P630,000. 00 and P2,200,000.00 for the SALINTUBIG projects, respectively.
