TARLAC CITY- In line with the Department's function of providing assistance to local government units (LGUs), DILG Region 3 graced the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Utilization Conference organized by the Provincial Government of Tarlac with the functionaries of each LGUs in attendance on January 18, 2017.
The conference aimed to discuss the results of the 2016 SGLG assessment to be able to help the LGUs address concerns and identified gaps in their various areas of governance and eventually, to increase the number of SGLG passers.
DILG Tarlac Provincial Director Belina T. Herman on her message, emphasized the importance of passing the rigorous assessment of the SGLG, "We are exerting our best effort not just for the accolade and financial incentive but to provide the best and excellent public service to the people".
DILG R3's SGLG Alternate Regional Focal Person Fortunato M. Abraham III presented the results of the 2016 SGLG assessment through the LGUs' governance assessment report. He likewise discussed the new indicators for this year's assessment.
An open forum ensued where the participants mostly asked questions/clarificiations on their unmet criteria and documentary requirements.
Other topics relevant to SGLG were also briefly discussed such as the Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities (ADMP) and the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF).
Tarlac Governor Susan A. Yap encouraged all LGUs to strive harder especially now that the standards for the 2017 SGLG were raised.
In 2016, 37 LGUs in Central Luzon were recognized and conferred with the Seal during the National SGLG Awarding including the province of Tarlac and the LGUs of Pura, Ramos, San Clemente, and Victoria.
