The Department of the Interior and Local Government - Olongapo City led the 2016 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Utilization Conference on February 7 with the city's SGLG focal persons to resolve the issues that hindered the Olongapo to pass the 2016 National Validation and to prepare for the 2017 SGLG.
On her opening remarks, OIC-CD Amada T. Dumagat encouraged the body to help one another to recuperate the unmet indicators of some governance area components of the 2016 SGLG. She also incited the participants to dynamically accomplish the requirements to meet the possible new indicators as the components of the seal are continuously levelling up.
LGOO VI Melissa D. Nipal revisited and discussed the criteria of the 2016 SGLG. She re-assessed and brought up the indicators of the past year's components which the city unsuccessfully met. She likewise oriented the focal persons on the possible indicators of the 2017 SGLG.
The group raised suggestions to improve their respective services and systems in preparation for this year's assessment.
In the 2016 SGLG, an LGU needs to pass all the three core assessment areas – Good Financial Housekeeping, Social Protection and Disaster Preparedness, and at least one from the essential assessment areas – Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness, Peace & Order or Environmental Management to become a recipient of the seal.
