The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region III, through its Regional Records Unit and Regional Information and Communications Technology Unit (RICTU), led the cities and municipalities of Central Luzon toward digital governance through the Cities and Municipalities Information Management System (CMIMS).

The Regional Orientation on CMIMS was conducted in two batches on October 16–17, 2025, at Greene Manor Hotel, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. It was attended by designated Records and IT Officers, DILG Field Officer representatives, and Provincial Information System Analysts (ISAs) from Aurora, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Zambales for the first batch, while participants from Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Angeles City, and Olongapo City comprise the second batch.

The activity aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills in navigating and utilizing the CMIMS and, more importantly, to build their appreciation of its benefits in improving local government operations.

The activity highlighted the presentation of the system overview, guidelines, and key features, complemented by a live system walkthrough and demonstration that provided participants with an actual preview of its functionalities.

In her inspirational message, DILG Regional Director expressed high hopes that the activity would ignite the participants' passion and vision to become catalysts of good governance in their respective local government units. She underscored their vital role in the LGU in achieving more efficient, transparent and accountable local governance. She further said, "Kayo ang liwanag ng pagbabago, lakas ng pamahalaang lokal, at pag-asa ng bayan."

The CMIMS is one of the major systems under the Local Government Unit Support System (LGUSS) program developed by the Information Systems and Technology Management Service (ISTMS) of the DILG Central Office. It serves as a comprehensive platform designed to streamline data management and digital processes in cities and municipalities across the nation.

Envisioned to build digital and smarter cities and municipalities, the CMIMS empowers local governments to deliver better, more transparent, and more efficient public services—paving the way for a more connected, data-driven, and citizen-centered governance.
