The Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO), in partnership with the COMELEC, DILG, City Government of Olongapo, and esteemed religious organizations, joined hands in hosting the remarkable "Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023 Unity Walk, Interfaith Rally, and Peace Covenant Signing" on October 10, 2023. This memorable event saw a harmonious unity walk commencing at the Olongapo City National High School (OCNHS) Covered Court, culminating at the Olongapo City Marikit Park, where a program for the interfaith rally and covenant signing unfolded.

 The primary objective of this event was to encourage the BSKE candidates to put aside their differences and divisions during the election period, in the pursuit of peace, orderliness, and the setting of a virtuous example for the public.

Distinguished guests graced the occasion, including the proponent, PCol Carlito U Grijaldo, accompanied by City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino Jr., City Election Officer Ma. Luisa C. Lumanlan, and LGOO VI Fernando M. Erese Jr. of the DILG-OC.

Leaders representing various religious organizations in Olongapo City led the candle lighting ceremony, where they offered their prayers for the peaceful and harmonious conduct of BSKE 2023. On the other hand, PCol Grijaldo led the recital of the integrity pledge, emphasizing the commitment to upholding ethical standards in the electoral process.

During his address at the event, LGOO VI Erese emphasized the core purpose of the participants' candidacy – to represent the people in the noble endeavor of public service. He challenged the candidates to extend mutual respect to one another throughout the election process and, above all, to put the interest of their communities at the center of it. He underscored, "Hindi tayo magtatagumpay nang mag-isa, kundi bilang isang kolektibong pwersa. Maging inspirasyon tayo sa bawat isa, at sa ganitong paraan, magiging inspirasyon din tayo sa buong barangay at kabataan,"

This event marked a significant step towards fostering unity, understanding, and collaboration among aspiring leaders, reinforcing their commitment to a peaceful and purpose-driven BSKE 2023. The participating organizations hope that the spirit of unity and cooperation witnessed during this event will continue to guide the candidates throughout their campaigns and eventual service to the community.
