DILG Pampanga, in partnership with the NAPOLCOM, Pampanga Mayor's League, and PCL Pampanga Chapter through the Suporta, Aksyon at Ugnayan para sa Pamahalaang Lokal (SAUP) series of Ing Kulitan, spearheaded an enhancement training for LGU's People's Law Enforcement Board (PLEB) on March 16-17, 2023 at the Vista Marina, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
The activity was initiated to orient the PLEB members in the cities/ municipalities on their roles and responsibilities, also to strengthen and increase their capabilities in carrying out their function to hear and decide citizen's complaints or cases filed against erring officers and members of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In her message, Provincial Director Myra B. Moral-Soriano said that the training is meant to foster a deeper appreciation for and understanding of the critical role of PLEBs in the community. She added that the capacity development activity is just the first step in further strengthening the body and its members. An advocacy to raise awareness on the existence of PLEB in the LGU is also needed so that citizens will know that there is an authority where they can have redress on complaints against police officers.
The People's Law Enforcement Board (PLEB) is a disciplinary authority in the Local Government Unit (LGU) wherein private citizens can file charges against an erring police officer.
