Following the official launching of PEACE, the DILG Aurora, as one of its priorities, conducted the Provincial Roll-Out on Strengthening Institutional Capacities of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (SICAP-BADAC) from February 2-3, 2023 via live simulcast on Facebook and Zoom Platform.
SICAP-BADAC is a capacity development intervention of the department to continuously provide BADACs with significant knowledge, skills, and attitude to ensure the functionality and sustainability of various anti-illegal drug efforts being implemented in their locality. This also falls under the banner of Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan (BIDA), the government's umbrella program on drug demand reduction, which aims to raise awareness on the adverse effects of the use of illegal drugs down to the grassroots level of our communities.
In his opening remarks Ener P. Cambronero, OIC-Provincial Director of DILG-Aurora, encouraged all participants to advocate for the eventual eradication of illegal drugs.
"Kami po ay umaasa sa dedikasyon ng bawat isa upang tuluyan na nating masugpo ang salot ng lipunan na illegal na droga hindi lang bilang isang badac member kundi lalo na bilang isang magulang, kapatid, o kaibigan na kailangang maging gabay lalo na ng ating mga kabataan."
To give way for the forging of partnerships between national agencies and barangay local government units, DILG's partner agencies were invited to discuss their drug demand reduction programs emphasizing the venues for participation. Joining the activity were PDEA, PNP, DepEd, DOH, and PSWDO who have shared their invaluable knowledge and efforts as Resource Speakers.
The activity was participated by BADAC Members, BADAC Auxiliary Teams (BATs), Barangay Duty Officer (BDO), and House Cluster Leader (HCL) within the Province of Aurora.
