Thirty-six (36) former rebels from the local communist armed group Militia ng Bayan (MB) and communist terrorist group CPP-NPA received assistance from the Department under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) following their voluntary surrender to the Provincial Government through the AFP and PNP.
DILG Pampanga Provincial Director Myra Moral-Soriano led the awarding of cheques to the beneficiaries on July 22, 2022, at the DILG Pampanga Provincial Office. She was joined by representatives from the PSWDO, AFP and PNP.
Each of the 15 former members of the CPP-NPA received Php 65,000 (immediate and livelihood assistance), while 21 former members of the Militia ng Bayan received Php 15,000 (immediate assistance). The government assistance will significantly help the FRs in starting a new chapter as they transition to a reformed life.
Malaking tulong itong aking natanggap mula sa DILG para makapagsimula ng sarili naming kabuhayan," expressed one of the former rebels who was with the CPP-NPA for 25 years before returning to the fold of the law.
Since its implementation, national government agencies including DILG have worked closely to ensure that former rebels are fully reintegrated back into society and that they and their families have access to different government services such as scholarship, trainings, and employment, among others.
