The Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing clears 88 barangays in the first Quarter of 2022 as part of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP), while 160 barangays retained their drug-cleared status.
The BDCP encompasses a holistic and whole-of-nation approach in addressing the drug problem by enlisting the participation of local government units (LGUs), government agencies, and various stakeholders.
As of March 30, 2022, a total of 1,902 barangays in Region 3 have been declared cleared from Illegal drugs.
The Oversight Committee is composed of the PDEA, Regional Director as Chairperson, DILG Regional Director as Vice-Chairperson, and members are representatives from Department of Health (DOH), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and Local Government Unit (LGU). The committee has the power and functions to declare, defer, retain, validate, verify, and to confirm drug affectation status of barangay, municipality/city and province.
