Armed with brooms, trash pickers and garbage sacks, DILG Pampanga officers led by PD Myrvi Apostol-Fabia and personnel from the Local Government of City of San Fernando gathered early at Tinajero Bridge, Brgy. Del Pilar, City of San Fernando, Pampanga for a clean-up activity along San Fernando River.
Prior to the clean-up, a short program was prepared by the LGU to brief participants on their respective assignments.
In her message, PD Fabia commended the city government for being a staunch partner of the Department in advancing efforts to protect the environment. She also noted the sterling performance of the LGU in the recent ManilaBAYani Awards and Incentives in which the City of San Fernando was named as one of the top performers in Region 3.
Meanwhile, CSFP Mayor Edwin Santiago said that the city government means serious business when it comes to environmental concerns thus the LGU ensures strict regulation of establishments especially when it comes to activities that can harm the environment. He also thanked the DILG for its support in the said undertaking.
The activity is part of the MBCRPP's information campaign which is geared towards raising awareness on the environmental concerns and in keeping and maintaining the cleanliness of our waterways.
