DILG City Director Martin Porres B. Moral instructed the barangay officials to monitor the compliance of local election candidates to COMELEC Guidelines throughout the campaign period and report violations on February 28 during the City Joint Security Control Center (CJSCC) Meeting at the Angeles City Police Conference Hall.
"The DILG Angeles City, together with the COMELEC Campaign Committee (CCC) of Angeles City, will strictly monitor the compliance of all the local candidates to the COMELEC Guidelines," said CD Moral. "All Punong Barangays are enjoined to cause the submission of reports 72 hours after a campaign activity in their respective AORs."
The members of the CJSCC, together with the Punong Barangays, also discussed the local peace and order situation, updates on national and local elections, and the COMELEC Resolution No. 10732 regarding Guidelines for the Conduct of In-Person Campaign, Rallies, Caucuses, Meetings, and Conventions, Motorcades and Caravans, and Miting De Avance under the New Normal in Connection with the 09 May 2022 National and Local Elections, and duties and responsibilities of barangay officials in monitoring campaign activities.
Under the COMELEC Resolution 10732, any person who shall violate the election guidelines in conducting campaign activities shall be punished with imprisonment of not less than one (1) year but not more than six (6) years and shall not be subject to probation. In addition, the guilty party shall be sentenced to suffer disqualification to hold public office and deprivation of the right of suffrage. Other punishments are also indicated in the said resolution.
