All Punong Barangays and members of their Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) attended an orientation session for community leaders and healthcare workers in the fundamentals of the COVID-19 response with the Omicron variant via Zoom on January 17, 2022.
The activity was initiated by the Provincial Government of Tarlac Health Office and the Provincial Office of DOH and DILG headed by Dr. Jeanette Lazatin, Ms. Maria Noel Lim, and Provincial Director Belina T. Herman, CESO V respectively.
"As the leader of our communities, it is both an honor and a responsibility to be in the frontlines when it comes to delivering services to our constituents," said PD Herman during the welcome message. She also took the opportunity to recognize the invaluable service of the health workers who are in the frontline since the pandemic began.
Dr. Jeanette Lazatin as the Vice-Chairperson of the Provincial Anti-COVID Task Force advised the participants during the discussion proper "we can see in our case curve, it is very visible that there is a surge of cases". She also stressed that community leaders must be role models when it comes to following the health protocol.
The Provincial Office of DOH led by Ms. Maria Noel Lim provided updates regarding the Omicron variant and the vaccination campaign of the government. It was stressed that Tarlac province currently has the second-highest percentage of vaccination in the Central Luzon region, in which she further encourages community leaders to advocate the program for those who are still unvaccinated.
DILG Tarlac Program Manager LGOO VI Romer T. Enaje discussed the new Alert System that was rolled out by the national IATF. He also tackled the content of the Provincial Ordinance No. 01-2022 dated January 11, 2022, which aims to regulate the mobility of unvaccinated and not fully vaccinated individuals within the province of Tarlac.
