On October 28, 2021, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales under the leadership of Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad conducted a Tree Planting Activity at Sitio Panayunan, Danacbunga, Botolan, Zambales as part of its Human Resource Program – encouraging employees to give importance to nature and also prioritize their mental health. The undertaking was participated in by the DILG Field Officers and provincial office personnel.

In her message, PD Bactad expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the team for giving time for the activity and emphasized that it provides an avenue for everybody's mental health wellness. "Napakasarap pala talaga magtanim. Ang saya-saya na habang tinatanim mo [ay] kinakausap mo [iyong itinatanim mo] na protektahan ang kalikasan. That's exactly the purpose of this activity aside from us communicating with mother nature, we leave behind something that replenishes the environment," PD Bactad said.

Further, PD Bactad persuaded the Team to sustain the spirit of unity and teamwork despite the challenging situation brought by the pandemic. She mentioned that the team should adopt the characteristic of the bakawan. "Basta't magkakapit bisig tayo kagaya ng mga ugat ng bakawan, we can all triumph over those challenges when we are binded together," PD Bactad added.
Cluster Team Leader LGOO VII Judith B. Romero discussed the overview of the activity and reminded that it aims to raise awareness and to give importance to environmental protection by planting trees.

Engr. Andy A. Divino, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (MDRRMO) of LGU Botolan, gave a brief lecture regarding the environmental programs of the LGU and the proper method of planting mangrove. He was then awarded with a plaque of commendation to recognize his contributions in environmental management and disaster resilience innovations of the Municipality of Botolan by PD Bactad.

The activity adheres with the advocacy of environmental preservation to connect people with nature and inspire them to be responsible stewards of the environment and by reminding that greener earth is what we need.
