Central Luzon has been recognized as the Top 2 Region in the Nationwide ranking of LGU Compliance with the Streamlining Requirements on Business Permit and Licensing System (BPLS). This was announced during the Ease of Doing Business Conference 2021 with the theme, "Enhancing Business Climate of Local Governments under the New Normal" held last April 21, 2021 via Zoom Application.
Dir. Anna Liza F. Bonagua of the Bureau of Local Government and Development, presented the progress of all LGUs on the Ease of Doing Business. As of April 2021, Region 3 lands on the 2nd spot, while NCR and Region 12 ranked as 1st and 3rd respectively.
As of writing, Region 3 is 100% compliant to all New and Renewal Business Permit Application revised standards, 98% compliant on BOSS for frontline services, with 173,662 number of Business Establishment Registered and a total collection of Php 4,944,557,858.16 from Business Taxes, Fees and other charges.
The requirements for streamlining BPLS includes the establishment of Business One Stop Shop (BOSS), Adoption of Backroom Operations, Automation or Computerization of BPLS, and Compliance to the standards on the processes of New and Renewal of Business Applications.
BLGD-DILG conducted the conference to support and recognized all the LGUs in their efforts towards economic growth and their role in establishing a friendly environment for businesses by implementing the initiatives on EODB.
The activity was participated in by various local officials and functionaries from the 146 Cities in the Philippines, focal persons from DILG Regional Offices; and Resource Persons from other partner agencies and various Local Government Units to share their best practices.
