All 33 LGUs in Nueva Ecija, including the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Nueva Ecija Personnel, participated in the conduct of CY 2019 2nd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on June 20, 2019 pursuant to National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Memorandum No. 32 series of 2019.
NSED is a quarterly NDRRMC activity that aims to inculcate a culture of disaster preparedness among Filipinos and promote disaster awareness. It is also conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the local governments' contingency plans and protocols; to test the efficiency and usefulness of the preparedness, response and recovery plans, systems and policies developed; and to test the coordination and communication mechanism during response operations.
The drill scenario centers on the occurrence of an earthquake focused safety tips and procedures. The participants executed the Duck, Cover, and Hold (DCH) technique as it is the means of protection during an actual impact. And once the shaking stops, individuals must evacuate safely to an open area where there are no trees and objects that are prone of falling.
