As part of the government's advocacy to ensure clean and honest elections this coming May 13, 2019, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region III through the leadership of Regional Director Julie Daquioag has spearheaded the conduct of "Election Motorcade against Vote-Buying and Vote-Selling" on May 3, 2019 in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
Participants from the different National Government Agencies and Non-Government Organizations in the region waved flaglets bearing the message "no to vote-buying, no to vote-selling" to encourage the public as well as the candidates to uphold honesty and integrity during election campaigns.
In her message Director Daquioag appreciated the heads of offices and personnel who participated in the activity and for showing their genuine concern to combat this unlawful act. She also highlighted that proper information dissemination will help reduce the number of people engaging in vote buying and selling.
Civil Service Commission (CSC) R-3 Supervising Human Resource Specialist Sonny Cuadro discussed CSC Memorandum Circular No. 30 s. 2009, giving emphasis on the different partisan political activities and other election-related prohibited acts.
Likewise, Commission on Elections (COMELEC) R-3 Assistant Regional Director Atty. Elmo Duque expressed his deepest appreciation to the DILG for organizing such relevant activity. Provincial Election Supervisor of Pampanga Atty. Fernando Cotom on the other hand, discussed the reality of vote buying in the country and its negative effects.
