PAMPANGA – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 3, through the support of the Pampanga Provincial Peace and Order and Anti-Drug Abuse Council (POC-ADAC), hopes to scale up its anti-illegal drugs operations by having a dedicated office at Clark International Airport.
In the latest Joint POC-ADAC Meeting chaired by Gov. Lilia G. Pineda, the Council passed a resolution seeking the assistance of Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade to provide the Agency an office space at the airport to effectively monitor the entry of contraband and illegal drugs in the country.
"Kailangan nating maging mapagmatyag at maging alerto sa lahat ng pwedeng daanan ng iligal na droga para tuluyang masugpo ang pagkalat nito. Dito sa Pampanga, mayroon tayong Clark International Airport na dapat bantayan kaya naman gusto kong palakasin at palawigin pa ang operasyon ng PDEA rito", Gov. Pineda said.
In a letter response from Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) dated January 25, 2019, it was stated that the officials of PDEA and the former had already met and talked about the suggested location for the office. The two parties just need to agree on the exact location and requirements to be able to work on the request.
With the establishment of an office specially dedicated to PDEA, the Agency is hopeful that it will aid them in strengthening their operations to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country.
