The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region III, in coordination with the Central Luzon Regional Peace and Order Council, held a Regional Anti-Illegal Drug Summit at Lou-Is Resort, Balanga City, Bataan on December 18, 2018.


The summit is a one of the steps to capacitate LGU officials, particularly on the grassroots level, to pursue measures in eradicating illegal drugs in Central Luzon. It served as a venue for the discussions of the PNP, PDEA, DOH, and DSWD – all in support of the grassroots towards the said cause.
"Alam natinnaangmga pushers ay nasa Barangay, angmga users ay nasa Barangay kung kaya marapatlamangnatayongmganasa Barangay anggagalaw at tutulongsa Pamahalaan because the government cannot do this alone. The fight against the illegal drugs is everybody's concern, ang drug prevention is also everybody's concern. Hindi lang PDEA, PNP, DOH or DSWD", said RD Julie J. Daquioag in her opening message.
The Regional Peace and Order Council, under the leadership of Chairperson and Bataan Provincial Governor Hon. Albert S. Garcia, targets to clear all 3,102 barangays from illegal drugs, lower the index crime rate, and attain an insurgency-free Central Luzon.
"Clearing 3,102 barangays will not be possible kung hindi po [tayo] tutulungan ng ating mga barangay officials, barangay chairs at ng pribadong sektor kaya hinahamon ko kayo para ipagpatuloy at lalo pang pagtibayin ang ating laban kontra sa iligal na droga", Gov. Garcia declared as he put forward his challenge to the participants.
The event was attended y the barangay officials of identified barangays all over the region, as well as DILG, DOH, PDEA, PNP, and DSWD representatives.
