DILG Region III has conducted a Regional Orientation on the 2018 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) on May 8, 2018 at the DILG Regional Office. It was attended by the Provincial/ City Directors, Cluster Team Leaders and Focal Persons of each DILG Provincial and Highly Urbanized City Office.
OIC-ARD and concurrent Pampanga PD Myrvi Fabia emphasized the standpoint in fostering good local governance in LGUs where SGLG is opted to exhibit the integrity and outmost performance in public service. PD Fabia added the significance of the new and precise indicators in the assessment and awarding of the best LGUs. She also encouraged the participants to raise their concerns and queries to further identify and understand the determinants covered by the SGLG.
LG-MED Chief Lerrie Hernandez presented the overview of the activity and pointed out the "All-In" principle in the assessment which explains that for an LGU to qualify, it must meet all the minimum criteria in the seven (7) areas. She also mentioned the new approaches and assessment processes for this year's SGLG to broaden and set higher standards to be able to raise the bar of governance and select the laudable LGU.
LGOO V Aldwin Reyes profoundly discussed the SGLG indicators namely Disaster Preparedness, Peace and Order, Tourism, Culture and Arts. Also, LGOO IV Christian Red Mejia presented the other four (4) indicators which encompass Financial Administration, Social Protection, Business-friendliness and Competitiveness and Environmental Management.
This year's SGLG denotes the continuous and progressive governance that must be established in every LGU.
